The PhysioHealth Swift Carbon Cycling Team commences its campaign for the second half of the National Road Series on 12 August with the start of the five day Tour of the Great South Coast. The team is in its first year of the NRS and is all about giving its young riders the experience to take the step into the top end of road cycling. The team enjoyed its first NRS race at the Tour of Toowoomba with Jason Lea achieving a top 10 in the under 23 category and the remainder of the team finishing strongly after a few mishaps in the early stages.
Jason Lea has been improving dramatically this year with some outstanding results in Victoria open races and the team will be looking to help Jason achieve a high result in the under 23 category for the remaining NRS races. You can also expect Sam Furhmeister, Aaron Bowe and Mitchell Dedman to be working hard to get into early breaks and Aaron Ross to be finishing fast in bunch sprints.
The team will be looking to build a stronger team for 2016 and will be welcoming a couple of internationals as guest riders in remaining tours to try out the Australian scene. Our first guest will be Mathias Fitzwater from the New Zealand National Cycling Academy who will race the Tour of King Valley. Mathias is a strong all round rider who will get a good time in the time trial and be near the front on the climbs.
